Search Engine Optimization in All Its Glory
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is basically just a complex way of saying make me visible on the web! Anyone can have a website, but the question is how to people FIND your website. That’s where SEO comes in. Basically search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo! have complex algorithms that they use to scan the web. They take the results of these scan and the more frequently a site shows in the results, the higher it ranks when that engine returns its results. That is a bit of an oversimplification, but in its most basic terms, that’s all it is.
This makes it sound like the more links on your page the better then, right? No, not right. The new algorithms that the search engines have employed recently made it difficult, if not impossible, to pull one over on them. The quality of your content is actually more important now in these algorithms than the number of links you have.
So how can you make your site optimized? The answer is simple, have good content, and if you have a WordPress site, implement themes and plugins that are SEO optimized. And remember, use the SEO options that are on each page. Create your meta tags, use descriptive text, and employ a proper use of headings.
